Preparation and Usage
(A Quick Brewing Guide)
1. Choose your weapon
Beans, Ground
Grumpy mule coffees are suitable for use in a wide range of brewing equipment. For espresso machines, finely grind your beans or choose espresso grind for best results.
2. Load up X2
Use 2 heaped dessertspoonfuls (those big ones your mum only had out for special occasions) of fresh, ground coffee per cup. If you want to be a nerd about it that's 15g per 250ml of coffee.
Espresso heads, a good dose for our coffee is 14-18g per double shot with an extraction time of about 27 seconds. Just don't count mississipily (watch friends, it'll make sense).
3. Fire!
Allow heated water to come off the boil (about 93-950) before pouring. It's just enough time to tweet a pic of the pack at a jaunty angle. Serve the coffee immediately once brewed.

Very good
Very good one ! I recommend it
Wonderful complex, strong coffee
Satisfying mix of tastes backed by a reassuring strength. A very nice espresso. I made it in an espresso machine but will try it in a Moka pot too.
Good but used to be even better?
I was so happy that I found this coffee again on Ocado, I loved this particular blend so much a few years ago. I had this anticipation to be wowed this time but then it was just "good"...not bad at all but not as great as it used to be. Also, I think it used to be much cheaper even when not on offer. Now even on offer it is more expensive than what it used to cost. But I am all for fair trade and if it got expensive for the right reasons, it is OK...I am still looking for my fave espresso though.
Not bad for a supermarket coffee
Tasted ok but it had no indication of when it was roasted, could be really old. Bought for emergencies if i ran out between rave coffee subscribe and save. My be advice is to buy from an independent roaster if you can where the beans have been freshly roasted. A good piece of advice I was given is all good coffees have a 'roasted on' date as well as a 'best before'.
Not my style of coffee
‘I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. Had a good smell on opening packet but that quickly faded. Too fruity for my taste but quite smooth
Wonderful gorgeous excellent
These are my favourite brand of coffee beans. You open the packet, the aroma is sublime, I use in a coffee machine and get the best espresso or cappuccino. I've tried already ground beans and it's just not the same, the aroma is lost and so is the taste. Ocado PLEASE keep selling Grumpy Mule or I'll be very grumpy !
