Harvey Nichols CDR Villages 2019 75cl
£15.50
£15.50 per 75clProduct information
The
front label of our Côtes du Rhône depicts the helmet of the Knights Templar,
a monastic order that, during the Middle Ages, established religious
communities and planted vineyards around the Plan de Dieu, where this wine is
produced. By Bernard Latour at Domaine de l'Espigouette, this old vine blend
of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre undergoes a traditional style
vinification and is further aged in oak. Ruby red in colour, this wine
displays aromas of red and black berry fruits with whispers of basil and
black pepper. The palate offers a generous helping of juicy berry fruit,
together with subtle, savoury undertones, all supported by crunchy fine grain
tannins. Try it with roasted red meats, rich casseroles or cheese. |

Bottle was fizzy
A real shame as we were looking forward to sharing this on Christmas eve, but the wine was fizzy. Perhaps our batch had undergone a second fermentation and this didn't get through QC.
Strange for a CDR village
CDR Villages are usually herby full bodied wines, however this tasted more like a Malbec than a Syrah so really not what I was expecting.
Not to our taste
Both my husband and I did not appreciate this wine so much, we found it too dry and the taste not deep enough. It was OK but definitely not a favourite.
very pleasant
A very pleasant wine which we enjoyed drinking. Would happily drink again.
Pretty bottle and good taste
Nice bottle of red looking extra special with the Harvey Nichols name on it. Taste was good and whilst we enjoyed it with red meat as suggested, we also felt it was light enough to drink alone. At 14 pounds I believe it is not good value for money for home drinking but would make a nice gift.
Very drinkable
I'm no wine connoisseur but I really enjoyed this full bodied, yet smooth, red and would definitely recommend.
