From the Kashmir mountains, the beaches of Goa, to the streets of Delhi, every square mile of India has a unique mix of spices, and a local way of cooking curry. Holy Cow's range of curries mirror these local home-cooked and slow-cooked methods. We caramelise onions until they're golden and naturally sweet, and we freshly roast and grind our spices. Then we slow cook each curry for hours...and hours.
We've done the hard work - so you can create your unique curry in minutes. All you have to do is decide what to add!
A Bite Sized Guide to Chennai
A rose by any other name'... Madras may now be called Chennai, but South Indian food is still a feast to behold. Although Madras curry was created in British curry houses, we've taken it back to its Chettinad roots in South India so you can enjoy the best of both worlds. The Chettiar people of South India produce some of the spiciest and most aromatic dishes in India, and we've replicated their method of cooking, so you can enjoy this local Madras favourite at home. I have become a convert to HOLY COW
I have just tried the Holy Cow Mangalore Curry (with paneer, chickpeas and spinach). I just had to add a little coconut milk . It was delicious and I shall be trying the other curries now. Very good value.
this is a curry base
Added coconut milk as instructed, made a glorious fish curry that I proudly served to my Indian guests who wanted my recipe for their mothers !!!
Small & not spicy enough but ok
Its definitely edible and makes a very speedy dinner but I wouldnt buy it again even at half price. Theres a lack of flavour and spice, doesnt taste like an Indian curry and misses the intensity of flavours somehow, including chillies as its beyond mild. Could it be that its more toned down for British tastes? Anyway thats a miss. Its also really small, I added a tin of chickpeas, a tomato and some spinach and it just about made 2 servings so I have no idea why theyd say 2-4 servings.
Lovely
but I wish it was a little bit bigger. Hard to feed two from it, but really quick and full of flavour.
worst curry sauce
very bitter taste. Will not buy again even when on offer
good range
Like all the holy Cow sauces to be honest - although I usually add water as find them too thick and rich otherwise
