Avoid
Wish I had read the reviews before buying this. So many little bones within the product. Made feeding to my baby difficult & ended up throwing it away!
AVOID - Full of bones and poor quality meat
Bought this to make salmon muffins for my toddler and spent 30 minutes trying to pick out all the bones. Very big circular pieces of bone too, as well small broken bits. Complete nightmare and meat quality was poor so threw a third of it away. I dont know how John West can claim this is high quality meat. Id never buy it again.
Salmon is ok but not when sold by Ocado
Got 10 tins on sale to stock up. Big mistake. One was ok. The other ones had dents in them, of varying quantity and depth, Ocado refused to refund. Really feeling ripped off.
Gross
Bought this to make fish cakes for my baby who is weaning. Spent a load of time removing bones, skin, and what looked like a trachea (not spine as someone incorrectly stated previously). It might be nutrious but if I wanted to fanny around with those bits I'd just buy the whole and gut it myself
Usually on a Par with the M and S Version
"Continually Ensuring the Highest Quality Pink Salmon", they say. ...not anymore. Horrible brown and bitty with an unusually high volume of spine bones and pin bones - very substandard. My normal two-ingredient Salman mayo was a very discoloured murky khaki beige and gritty! I am happy with the usual amount of bones and have been buying this for years for that very reason, but this went to a whole new level. It should be described as Bones with a Splash of Salmon. If the reviews are consistently mentioning a change to the quality, then there is cause for concern. My question is who is responsible for down-voting all the honest reviews?! Does it REALLY sound like the work of paying customers??
Chopped bones
Threw 3 tins of this away. They all had very small chopped bones in the flesh. Wanted a convenient source of protein for a packed lunch but was a waste of time. I couldn't remove the bones.
