This is like glace de poisson...
.... which is very concentrated and supposed to be used sparingly. It gives the most amazing sauce for any type of fish including fish pie. I use one stock pot, a pot of half fat creme fraiche and double cream each, half a lemon, half tea spoon of grated lemon rind, 1 glass of Noilly Prat, bunch of fresh dill and a little fresh estragon, Maldon Sea salt, white pepper. Incredible.
Far too much salt
The balance between fish flavours and salt is totally wrong. If you dilute this stock sufficiently to make an acceptable stock youll lose the other flavours. Knorrs small pots of gel are a good idea, but whats needed are salt-free versions. Most of us are quite capable of salting our own food to suit individual tastes
flavoursome
adds a good flavour to seafood risottos - not sure would use it in a fish pie though, too strong. be better if they could make it without xanthan and other gum, thicken it with starch or summat but it's a useful thing
Simply Awful!
Ruin a fish pie!
Essential for the cupboard
This stock really adds depth and flavour to my spicy prawn and pilaf rice dish. The family wolf it down.
Smells funny. Expensive
Stock cubes work fine, and about half the price. All they did was add water and a funny smell. I can do that myself .... Seriously, it's not broke, don't go fixing it.
