Still the best for flavour
I always return to this brand. Nothing else quite hits the spot as some others have said! The list of ingrediants is pretty short and my only gripe is that the vinegar used is malt rather than my preferred and much healthier cider vinegar but hey, its not like I'm using gallons of the stuff in my cooking anyway
The best condiment ever
Some of these other reviews are baffling. "The bottle used to heat up when shaken"? What?? For the bottle to heat up there would need to be some kind of exothermic chemical reaction. I'm sure the ingredients have morphed slightly since the 1830s but this is a sauce meant for long-term storage and use. Not only is the change of ingredients such as vinegar, molasses, anchovies etc reacting in this way extremely low, the idea that they would have been included in something designed to be stable is also highly implausible. -- As I said I'm sure the ingredients have shifted slightly but there are recent video documentaries of the production of the sauce and you can evidently see that the key components that contributed to it being a fantastic sauce 100 years ago are still very much present today... Don't know what some of these others are remembering, but to me it's still great. Memory is a fickle thing hey :)
yum
only Lee and Perrin's will do
Still the best
Unbeatable flavour which seems to develop over time, so if you think its not how you remember it leave it for a while and try it again - the longer the bottles been open the better it tastes.
essential
Could not do without it. Added to pasta bakes, soup - it gives a kick
Dumbed down bigtime
Remember this as a kid back in the sixties. Had to remember not to shake the bottle hard, otherwise it was very hot tNow, as a previous reviewer said, it is nothing more than flavoured water. Note that the good reviews were in 2021, so the recipe has been dumbed down since then.
