Had to throw it away - disgusting !
Like many of the other reviewers, I have been buying this for years and it has consistently been the best on the market. I thought I had a bad jar that had been left in the fridge too long. So I bought a fresh one. But this one had to be thrown away as well. The taste is awful. Overpowering sourness/vinegar. Absolutely vile. What have they done to it?
Awful
This tartare sauce used to be the best on the market by far, with a lovely creaminess and delicate flavour. If you're used to the old recipe then be aware that this one is very different. This has an underlying sour taste and is dominated by cayenne pepper. It's almost unpalatable and I can't imagine anyone enjoying this.
Dreadful new recipe - ruined a great flavour!
This used to be my go-to tartare sauce, so good I was prepared to pay Maille's premium price. Since the recipe change, THEY couldn't pay ME to eat it. It tastes vile!
new recipe is dreadful
Loved this and bought it as the best wed had out of a jar - UNTIL they changed the recipe Will not buy again.
why change
The old tartare sauce use to enhance flavour of fish or scampi this just obliterates it with heat! Horrid!
Why ruin the sauce?
This now contains cayenne pepper which ruins the previously lovely flavour. Really disappointing.
