At Meridian, we believe nature produces the best & tastiest ingredients.
Our Organic Blackstrap Molasses is a natural by-product of traditional sugar cane refining. We only use the most nutritionally important "third extraction” which is the lowest in sugar and has the highest concentration of minerals (high in Iron, Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium).
Our blackstrap molasses are naturally gluten and dairy free, contain no added sugar or salt and are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Better than treacle

I was fed up with messy tins of treacle, with the lids that wont go back on. I bought this as an alternative. The glass jar is much simpler. Making Yorkshire Parkin, at first, I thought Id made a mistake because the molasses smells quite sour. But the end result is gooey and gorgeous.

Deep Dark and Delicious

I usually find mollasses too sharp to enjoy unless used for cooking but this one has a sweetness to it which I really like. It also gives an extra depth of richness to baked goods.

Tasty and Nutritious

This is an excellent alternative to sugar as it adds sweetness but with much less sugar per 100g and the big bonus is that molasses is very rich in other nutrients - high in iron, calcium, potassium. It does have a robust caramel and slightly metallic taste which is probably the high iron content. A teaspoon stirred into porridge is delicious! A cupboard staple

wonderful stuff

Im a new convert after reading about the health benefits. It was an acquired taste, I add it to my herbal teas. Now Im crazy about it, I really enjoy the flavour.

Perfect for strong bread

Mix this with strong Canadian flour for bread making. Perfect every time, golden colour.

I wanted to like it

Judging by the reviews it's a very good product, and I wanted to like it. I like the dark and smokey taste which tastes like licorice however I can't get on with the sharp, vinegary finish.
