cacao nibs = the same amount of copper as 15g of cashew nuts
Hand-harvested from rainforests within the cocoa belt, 10° north and south of the equator, cacao is one of the most nutritious plants on the planet. The pods are fermented, then the beans gently roasted to enhance their intense, chocolate flavour before being broken into nibs. They are a source of magnesium to support mental wellbeing and a source of copper for energy levels and immunity.

So that\x27s what Chocolate Nibs are.
I obviously didn't know what Chocolate Nibs were. I thought they were going to be similar to the pure chocolate buttons that can be bought to make hot chocolate but they are not. These do not melt as they are broken up roasted fermented cocoa beans. They have a slightly nutty pure chocolate flavour which is less harsh and strong compared to the pure chocolate buttons for hot chocolate. Mine had quite a few little tiny bits of nut shell which made them unpleasant to eat by the teaspoon ful. I don't know what I will do with them as they are not what I thought they were going to be. Today I ground some up with coffee beans and put into the stovetop coffee pot. That was quite nice with a bit of hot milk and sugar. I ground with the coffee beans as the nibs are quite fatty and do coat the grinder so I probably won't do that again as I don't want to ruin my grinder. Next time I'll use a pestle and morter. Also, adding the ground nibs seemed to make it more difficult for the water to push through in the stovetop so it took ages and didn't push all the water through.
loving these nibs
The flavour is gorgeously intense and the texture is pleasantly crunchy. The children adore them too
Good for adults
These are not a replacement for chocolate chips. They are actually more of health product than chocolate. Nice on yoghurt and berries sprinkle on ice cream with peanut butter. Adds some nutrients ands flavour but not sweet at all, so best with other things that have a bit of sweetness.
Disappointing batch
I often purchase cacao nibs from Naturya as well as from other brands. Unfortunately the nibs in the recent bag I received are excessively hard and dry. I appreciate that this is a natural product so some variation is normal, but for future purchases I'll look elsewhere.
Good buy when on offer
No issue with the quality of these. Make a nice 'top dressing' for yoghurt etc. Try mixing with seeds and nuts to make an alternative crumble topping. Looses a star due to there being better value options available and the laminated pouch packaging which is not widely recyclable (come on brands, there are are better options available).
Good Product \- MUCH cheaper else where
Shop around is my advice. Lovely product, but paying way over the top with Ocado.
