Not Orange Blossom!
This is nothing like orange blossom, not even a slight resemblance. In fact it has a rather awful flavour, a combination of strong alcohol and a minute hint of orange cordial (a bad orange cordial). Complete waste of money and definitely not recommended
Not just for baking
Ocado kindly sent us a bottle in exchange for a review. My Nan always had a bottle of Orange Blossom water and I have kept the tradition. It is lovely to add to cakes, icing, ice cream, salad dressings and fresh fruit deserts but there are other uses for it and a little goes a very long way. Add a couple of drops in water for your oil diffuser. In winter a small amount on a damp cloth wiped over a radiator scents a room or add to distilled water in a spray bottle for a air freshener. It works really well on insect bites and sunburn and also as facial toner. I have always used it as a hair rinse as the scent is fabulous. Spray on a mattress and bedding to freshen it up or dampen down clothes when ironing - but do not add directly to the iron in case of damage. More than happy to recommend this to product.
Use in baking
Received it for review and Liked to use in drizzle cake’s icing. Tasted and smelled of oranges without real oranges
Doesn\x27t Taste of Actual Oranges
I'm received this for free in return for an honest review. As the ingredients mention orange oil and the description says it's an extract of a Seville orange, I expected it to give my glass of water an orangey flavour. It didn't really taste of anything so I assume it has a different purpose, perhaps in baking. However I went on holiday the day after receiving it so haven't been able to bake anything in time for the 2 week review deadline.
Different flavour
I'm reviewing this product because Ocado sent me a free sample. I like to try different things so looked up a few recipes to try that listed it as an ingredient. It works well in sponges and biscuits.
Specific product
Personally I don't think you'd want to buy this unless you have a specific recipe you want it for. I do as I make an elderflower poppyseed cake that requires it. I have made it with and without this orange blossom water. Orange blossom water doesn't smell like orange extract it smells more of alcohol but it adds a depth of flavour to the cake.
