Proper cinnamon
Been buying this stuff for a while now. great to see a cinnamomum zeylanicum (true cinnamon) offering at this price point. I think most of the negative reviews are those used to cassia, which is more common nowadays. Nice one Ocado, it's a great little product
Good
I purchase various ocado herb and spices always find them a good price and quality. They have a good taste when cooking with them
its alright. thats all.
Barely smells of cinnamon- when you compare it to Schwartz you realise the difference immediately. But theres also a a significant price difference so on balance, its alright. But if you can pay more, then do so.
Very good
I don’t know much about cinnamon but this tasted very good in my porridge and it wasn’t to sweet but not sour either
Cinnamon, but not as you know it
It smells a bit like cinnamon in the jar but when baked in a cake it gives a weird flavour. I'm an experienced baker and this has happened twice now in different recipes, so I don't think it can be put down to a dodgy recipe or technique. So disheartening when you've put the work in and don't get the expected results, won't be using again.
True Cinnamon is Ceylon not Cassia (NOT SWEET)
"True Cinnamon" is "Ceylon Cinnamon".It is NOT sweet. It sometimes smells like a fainter version of sweet"cassia"everyone is used to(cinnabon rolls, pastries, lattes,Christmas cookies etc)it has an earthy,woody,barky,non-sweet flavour.full of health benefits including a natural thermogenic to boost metabolism, unfortunately does not taste great due to the earthy woody flavour."Cassia" Cinnamon,or "sweet cinnamon "sometimes marketed as just "cinnamon" by companies like schwartz,is not actually Cinnamon but Cassia plant. It is the flavour everyone cqme to know as "cinnamon":sweet taste, smell of Christmas, tasting of cinnamon rolls.Unfortunately it has none of the health benefits and is toxic/inflammatory used excessively.Marketed decades ago "like a sweet version of Cinnamon"later reduced to just "Cinnamon"as it became more widely available selling more due to taste and baking.Ocado used to market Cassia as Cinnamon until this was challenged as incorrect marketing.Their Cinnamon is now Ceylon.
