Good mushrooms, bad price
I've happily bought these for a while, but seeing them over £2 I thought I'd compare to the non-organic options - less than half the cost. I'd like to buy organic but this is too much.
4 mushrooms for over £2?!?
159 for the price of 250g
bit old..again
Not bursting firm mushrooms. Old and tired.
Good
They were fresh, holds their shape when cooked in oil. Organic and tasted good.
very good
Not cheap, but these have a pleasantly nutty flavour.
Conspiracy or Oligopoly ?
Tesco, Sainsburys and Ocado all have organic chestnut mushrooms priced at £2.15. This is odd for 2 reasons... Firstly, that not that long ago, all 3 supermarkets were charging significantly less than this, circa £1.50 ir less a few months ago. Second, Non organic chestnut mushrooms are (coincidentally accross the 3 supermarkets ?) all being charged at £1.10 for the same weight. How can the charge for an organic item be over 95% of a non organic counterpart? And up circa 44% in a few weeks?
