Ready for loading into a cannon
On the Mohs hardness scale these are up there with diamonds. Probably on me for buying out of season but I just fancied a pear. Dont sell them at a premium if they arent actually ripe and ready. Still I can use the other three to weigh down the pergola in this windy weather so all is not lost.
Juicy, flavoursome and lasted well in fruit bowl
I notice some recent poor reviews for these but the pack I brought a couple of weeks back took a few days to ripen but were juicy and flavoursome once they had. One got left in the fruit bowl until yesterday and I fully expected it to be too soft to use but it was perfect peeled and sliced, with cubes of St Agur blue cheese, a handful of walnuts, some Little Gem lettuce in a simple olive oil, white wine vinegar and mustard dressing - made a delicious salad for two!
tasteless and hard as a rock
I have in all the years l have been with Ocado, l have never complained about anything, even though there has been, on occasion cause to do so. But these ripe & ready pears were hard, unripe, and completely tasteless. They were bought to complement a salad that was to be served over Easter, but were useless for that, or any other purpose. Very disappointed,
Confused
Up until around a month ago, these pears were delicious, soft and ripe with a dark green, rough skin. For the past two weeks they have been as solid as rocks, with a light green, smooth skin. They're entirely different pears, and not for the better.
Rock hard, brown bruising all over
These arrived rock hard, covered all over in brown bruising - two packs the same. Organic apples and oranges are currently from Europe, but these pears are from Argentina. I also bought Ethical Food Company Organic Pears on the same delivery and they were identical - from Argentina, same variety (Williams) and rock hard. At least Ethical Food Company come in fully recyclable packaging whilst Ocado uses cardboard tray, hard plastic lid AND plastic wrapping. Back to Ethical Food Company organic apples, oranges and grapes which are glorious.
sweet & juicy
Our little ones love them.
