Free range - happy and healthy, complete provenance & traceability.
With a rich and savoury taste, these meaty cuts of chicken are easy to cook and packed with flavour. Whether you grill, roast, bake, or fry them, our drumsticks come out moist and tender, making them a favourite of both kids and adults alike. They're perfect for family dinners, but also work well as a protein-packed snack or party food.
At Packington Free Range we firmly believe that what is good for the animals and the land will naturally be good for us and better for our customers.
This is the philosophy of our great grandfather before us and we believe passionately in provenance, sustainable and ethical farming which fuels our drive to create an environmentally sound and welfare orientated farm,
This see's our farm in various environmental schemes, which helps encourage the biodiversity on our farm, in fact a RSPCA survey on our farm in 2012 showed that the number of different bird species had increased by 300% over a 5 year period!
We have also installed solar panels to help further reduce our carbon footprint.
All of this allows us to continue to farm the land here, in Staffordshire, for generations to come.
It's this simple philosophy that enables us to produce the most succulent, richly flavoured meat, often lost in today's intensive farming methods. We know you'll enjoy it.

Packington Free Range
Passion, respect and a relentless drive for excellence, have helped us, and the generations before use, to grow into the business we are today.
Passion
We are passionate about provenance, and sustainable and ethical farming. These values drive our work to create an environmentally sound and welfare-orientated farm.
Respect
Our respect extends beyond our livestock to our land as well. We've partnered with Natural England to drive many environmental schemes on our farms. Our fields have grass margins, to protect hedgerows and encourage ecosystems to flourish. We plant wild bird seed mixes, to supply insects and farmland birds with vital foods sources.
Excellence
Packington Free Range pigs and chickens are given plenty of time to mature and lots of pasture to roam. This is not only best for the animal's welfare, but it also results in first class meat, a fact recognised by our customers and supported by numerous industry rewards.

Hock burn
One of the drum sticks had Hock burn. Hock burn is caused when farmed poultry is left for long periods in its own waste. Not sure how free range these chicken are. Will never buy again.
regular buy
These are really tasty chicken drumsticks. There may be some bumps on skin from plucking: normal. They may smell slightly different from mass-produced, intensive factory-farmed chicken. Thats because they have been raised in different circumstances with different food and more space to roam. Yes its more expensive, but my take is Id rather eat less meat but better reared than more, generally cheaper, less welfare etc meat.
fabulous
Amazing. Tender and tasty
lokks amazing but smells terrible
Our chicken was within dates and looked fine but upon opening the smell was like gone off eggs. My kids kept joking someone has farted badly but honestly it was the worse smell! We disagree with food waste so putting this in the bin was a heartache but there was no other option.
Bad smell
chicken had a strong odour. went straight in bin
Ok but
Purchased 3, 2 were fine one smelled, so went in the bin. Portions seemed off as well, 2 drumsticks were huge (looked more like a turkey leg.) Taste was OK, nothing to write home about, probably wouldn't purchase again.
