At Packington Free Range we firmly believe that what is good for the animals

This is the philosophy of our great grandfather before us and we believe passionately in provenance, sustainable and ethical farming which fuels our drive to create an environmentally sound and welfare orientated farm,
This see's all of the farm we look after in environmental schemes, which helps encourage the biodiversity on our farm, in fact a RSPCA survey on our farm in 2012 showed that the number of different bird species had increased by 300% over a 5 year period!
We have also installed solar panels to help further reduce our carbon footprint.
All of this allows us to continue to farm the land here, in Staffordshire, for generations to come.
It's this simple philosophy that enables us to produce the most succulent, richly flavoured meat, often lost in today's intensive farming methods. We know you'll enjoy it.

Once opened, consume within 2 days.
Cool leftovers to room temperature, refrigerate within 2 hours. Consume within 2 days.
Suitable for freezing on day of purchase. Use within 1 month. Defrost fully before use, do not refreeze once defrosted.
Instructions
How to roast:
1. Remove the chicken from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking.
2. Preheat the oven to 200 0C (standard oven not fan)
3. Season the chicken and put in a preheated tray for 20 mins.
4. Then reduce the temp down to 180C, and cook for a further 30 minutes per kg.
5. Check that the juices run clear at the end of time using a skewer to the thickest part of the thigh.
6. If the juices are not clear, cook for a further 10 minutes.
7. When cooked remove and rest for 15 minutes.
8. Carve and ENJOY!

Great quality, favourite for roasting
I am a great fan of Packington chicken, always has great taste and good quality; I have roasted one every weekebd for almost a year, reliable and excellent. A staple in my orders.

such a pity
I was hopeful this chicken would be fab. It was not completely plucked, lots of feathers on the legs. The biggest disappointment was the flavour, there wasnt any! I roast as usual with veg for our dinner last night. (Im a good home cook so I knew it wasnt me) Everybody remarked how tasteless it was. My son asked if Id bought a badly treated chicken from Asda. Do not recommend.

Would have given 10 Stars if I could!
I am not a big chicken eater but always try to buy free-range. This bird was delicious and even I enjoyed it. Followed the cooking guide on the packaging and it was so moist and flavoursome. Produced a lovely bowl of fat for cooking our roast potatoes in next time. My husband and son enjoyed it cold the next day too. We all agreed that if you had this on Christmas Day you would not have been disappointed.

usually good - but not this time!
We usually really like these chickens but this one was full of gory-looking brown stuff and no one wanted to eat that. Went straight into the bin, so thats £14 wasted.

Best chicken I have had in a very long time. Got it in the flash sale for a bargain price. Roasted and it was delicious and moist. Plenty meat. Will buy again
