All our pigs are born outdoors at Packington. Our sows live their whole lives outside with plenty of space to roam, wallow and be sociable. When the piglets are weaned, they are moved into large outdoor paddocks. Here the piglets have the benefit of well bedded, cosy tents, while still being able to run around outside. A happy pig is a healthy pig!
At fourteen weeks of age, our piglets are moved into large, naturally lit sheds with a large outdoor area, where due to our low group numbers, we can ensure the welfare of the pig remains paramount. Tended by our farmers, the pigs are protected from the elements, with lots of space, natural light and natural ventilation, and deep straw beds.
Packington pigs are reared to the highest welfare standards and have been well recognised by butchers and the RSPCA Freedom Foods, as the best you can get. Our pigs develop and mature to produce the delicious meat you've come to expect from Packington. It may take longer to produce pigs in this way and cost a little more, but the results are worth it, and all our customers agree.
All our pork is prepared, hand cut and packed by Jon Thorner's, a Q Guild Master butcher. As a family butchery business, they understand the needs of the customer and their requirements enabling us to bring this truly superb product to you.
We know you'll enjoy it. - Rob Mercer

English mustard & honey glazed loin of Packington pork, creamed potato, braised leeks and onion gravy
Half loin of Packington Pork roasting joint 1.1kg
50g English mustard
50ml Honey
400g White potatoes
200g butter
100ml Double cream
200g Leeks
200g Onion
200ml Red wine
1lt gravy
1. Season the Packington pork loin with salt and pepper, spread the English mustard over the back of the Packington Pork loin and drizzle on the honey. Place into an oven tray and pour 1 pint of water in the bottom.
2. Place the Packington Pork loin into a hot oven pre heated to 180oc and cook for 1.5 hours or until the centre is piping hot.
3. Peel and quarter the white potatoes and place into a pan, cover with salted water. Place on the stove and bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are soft.
4. Drain the potatoes and return to the pan. Using a masher mash the potatoes until smooth, add 150g of the butter and cream, heat until the cream is hot and the butter has melted, stir through the potato and season with salt and pepper.
5. Cut the leeks into 2inch batons and place in a pan. Cover with water and add the remaining butter, place a lid on the pan and place on the heat. Bring the water to the boil and cook the leeks until soft.
6. In a thick bottomed pan heat a little oil. Peel and slice the onion and add to the pan.
7. Caramelise the onions and then add the red wine, reduce to a syrup. Add the gravy and bring to the boil.
8. To serve spoon the creamed potatoes on to a plate, slice the Packington Pork and arrange on top of the cream potatoes. Place the leeks on top and pour over the onion gravy.

Good value for money
Lovely taste, but I'd cook a little less than the instructions said so it doesn't dry out
High quality lard, mosty no meat
I loved the taste of this joint, it is the best around. The crackling was delicious. The only qualm is that it is becoming pretty much a high quality lard, very small meat. Still I think the best slab especially after the salt and pepper belly slab from M&S completely went down the drain in therms of taste and flavour, which I now feel is very difficult because of the distinct smell. I am going to buy this on offer if I ever get this again, but I really wish they had chosen the part with a bit more meat.
Delicious!
Made good crackling and because it has bones, there’s tender juicy meat nearer the bones. A prime joint of pork. We enjoyed it and will get again.
Terrible

Absolutely wonderful - started in the air fryer and finished in the oven, the crackling and meat were both spot on. Will definitely buy again!
