All our pigs are born outdoors at Packington. Our sows live their whole lives outside with plenty of space to roam, wallow and be sociable. When the piglets are weaned, they are moved into large outdoor paddocks. Here the piglets have the benefit of well bedded, cosy tents, while still being able to run around outside. A happy pig is a healthy pig!
At fourteen weeks of age, our piglets are moved into large, naturally lit sheds with a large outdoor area, where due to our low group numbers, we can ensure the welfare of the pig remains paramount. Tended by our farmers, the pigs are protected from the elements, with lots of space, natural light and natural ventilation, and deep straw beds.
Packington pigs are reared to the highest welfare standards and have been well recognised by butchers and the RSPCA Freedom Foods, as the best you can get. Our pigs develop and mature to produce the delicious meat you've come to expect from Packington. It may take longer to produce pigs in this way and cost a little more, but the results are worth it, and all our customers agree.
All our pork is prepared, hand cut and packed by Jon Thorner's, a Q Guild Master butcher. As a family butchery business, they understand the needs of the customer and their requirements enabling us to bring this truly superb product to you.
We know you'll enjoy it. - Rob Mercer

50% fat !
Got this on special offer - there was very little lean meat in the piece, it was half fat. This is unacceptable from a premium product. Poor value even on special offer.
Worth it
Been buying this for years and it has never disappointed. Had for Christmas and served 8 generously. It is the best pork joint you can buy from a supermarket. Crackling is well prepared and crisps up beautifully, the layer of fat is easily removed from the loin after adding flavour during cooking, the meat is lean and delicious. My parents used to buy half a pig from the local farmer years ago and this is the only pork I can find that tastes as good.
>50% Fat and Bone.
Cooked well, tasted good, good crackling. But you should note it is on the bone, it is not tied as in the picture and you’ll struggle to get anymore the 5-6 portions out of it. It is incredibly expensive, works out at around £4.50 per portion!
Great size
I got this pork on offer. It was one of the best pieces of pork I have bought beside Glos Old Spot. The crackling turned out amazing. It was a great size and when cooked from the recommendation on the packet it was succulent and so easy to slice. Would definitely buy again. Would at least 6 people.
Delicious!
Purchased for a small family get together, (6) and wanted some a bit less "Christmassy". Served with Dauphinoise potatoes, honey roast carrots, broccoli and stuffing balls. It was a huge hit and we managed to get another meal for just us 2, and sandwiches today. Absolute winner!
Delicious
Bought this joint to have over Christmas. Lovely tasting meat & made superb crackling. Would definitely buy again.
