Tasting Notes
Aromas of fresh apples and citrus fruits intermingle with cream fudge and sultana raisins in the nose to create a complex yet fresh, clean and well-balanced whisky. In the mouth this single malt whisky is incredibly smooth and both fresh and rich dried fruits abound. Delicate and sweet on the palate with just a hint of bitterness to remain refreshing then slowly this Penderyn presents a long finish leaving an aftertaste of Madeira cake and sultanas.

Today the Red Dragon (in Welsh, Y Ddraig Goch) is the proud national flag of Wales. This fiery creature is close to our hearts. It is thought that the ancient Welsh kings were using the dragon as a royal emblem by the early 5th century AD. In this they followed Roman cohorts that carried hollow metal 'draco' standards, through which the wind howled, to instill fear in their foes.
Wales is part of the United Kingdom and home to the native people of the British Isles. Welsh national identity emerged among the Celtic Britons after the Roman withdrawal in the 5th century. In this country, rich in myth and legend, the people have a quiet power and passion and many still speak the ancient Welsh language.
Penderyn make award-winning whiskies and spirits at their distillery in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. The area has spectacular mountain scenery, open moorland, farmland and valleys containing fast-flowing streams, rivers and waterfalls.
The Making of Legend
Our unique copper stills are charged with a fermented barley 'wash'. This is distilled to produce a flavourful spirit of extraordinary strength and purity which is married with water from the Brecon Beacons before maturing in the finest ex-bourbon casks.
Penderyn Legend is matured in specially reserved ex-bourbon casks made from American Oak, before receiving a further maturation in oak barriques that have previously held Madeira wine, to develop a harmonious single malt whisky with a subtle but sophisticated character and soft golden hues.
This great all-rounder is the essential expression of the legendary Penderyn house style and has all the richness of flavour and light fruitiness that Penderyn is famous for world-wide.

Excellent Welsh Single Malt
We discovered Penderyn Malt whiskeys a few years ago, they are excellent and especially good when on a good price reduction.

Beautiful
A whisky full of flavour, fruit and honey notes. It isn't weighed down with heavy peat and smoke, so do not buy it if you want that. I love whisky and I love this.

Raw alcohol taste
We didn’t enjoy this single malt. Not at all smooth with a raw alcohol taste. Not worth the money, even on offer.

Utterly disgusting
If you want to drink battery acid, this is a great choice. It doesn’t smell, taste or feel anything like single malt, just nasty and now we don’t know what to do with the rest!
