Not a bad Imitation
Ah, the French have finally caught wind of the allure of sparkling wine and must have been taught how to make some for themselves, and this Perrier Jouet example is actually quite alright! After years of sipping the superior English effervescence, I stumbled upon this bottled endeavor. Its a frothy concoction, reminiscent of tropical brioche, with a cheeky hint of toast lingering on the palate. Its not quite the crown jewel of bubbles, but its a commendable effort. In terms of recommendations, I must say its the perfect standby wine for those impromptu neighborly visits when you dont want to crack open the English stuff. A tip of the hat (/beret) to the French Ill be stocking up on this delightful runner-up for just such occasions. Glad for them that they have found an endeavour that they're not terrible at.
No gift box
Wish I'd seen the previous review. Bought as an engagement gift and was delivered without the box pictured.
No gift box
The reason for the negative review is that the champagne does not come in the gift box shown in the image - it's just the bottle. Having bought it as a gift, I'm really disappointed. If I'd realised before the delivery guy left, I would have handed it back to him.
my favourite!
Love everything about this champagne! The quintessential champagne flavour, perfect level of fizz plus a gorgeous bottle! My absolute favourite for a special occasion!
Favourite NV champagne
I like this more than many more expensive vintage and grand cru champagnes. It's peachy, smooth, creamy and has a citrus finish. Love it.
Not subtle
I was not as impressed as most reviewers are. This is an entry level champagne from this house and it doesnt stand up that well within the price range of its competitors. Their top shelf champagne is superior, but this one is a money spinner. There is a very dry burnt toast and floral taste that is not balanced out by too much acid. The overall experience is messy, heavy and hard work. Im sorry to say, but its quite poor.
