All our pigs are born outdoors at Packington. Our sows live their whole lives outside with plenty of space to roam, wallow and be sociable. When the piglets are weaned, they are moved into large outdoor paddocks. Here the piglets have the benefit of well bedded, cosy tents, while still being able to run around outside. A happy pig is a healthy pig!
At fourteen weeks of age, our piglets are moved into large, naturally lit sheds with a large outdoor area, where due to our low group numbers, we can ensure the welfare of the pig remains paramount. Tended by our farmers, the pigs are protected from the elements, with lots of space, natural light and natural ventilation, and deep straw beds.
Packington pigs are reared to the highest welfare standards and have been well recognised by butchers and the RSPCA Freedom Foods, as the best you can get. Our pigs develop and mature to produce the delicious meat you've come to expect from Packington. It may take longer to produce pigs in this way and cost a little more, but the results are worth it, and all our customers agree.
All our pork is prepared, hand cut and packed by Jon Thorner's, a Q Guild Master butcher. As a family butchery business, they understand the needs of the customer and their requirements enabling us to bring this truly superb product to you.
We know you'll enjoy it. - Rob Mercer

"I’m very partial to a pork belly, and these are a regular addition to my weekly Ocado order. This is most definitely a cut for those who relish fat, but then, that’s always the case for pork belly. Give them a turn with a little garlic-infused oil – adding fennel seeds and chilli flakes if wished – and roast on top of a tray of potatoes cut into 2-3cm chunks in a 170ºC oven for an hour and three quarters or so for a delectable dinner. Or, as I’ve found out to my delight recently, you can give the slices half an hour in a preheated air fryer at 190ºC, turning them once. You tend to get 3 large slices per pack, by the way, and you’d perhaps need to cook more than a packet in batches if going the air fryer route."- Nigella Lawson

meh
Very hit and miss. Last ones were terrible cuts and didnt cook well.
beautiful belly pork
Was hesitant after reading reviews but took a chance and glad I did. Seasoned with salt and pepper and cooked in the oven for 20mins at 200 then 20 mins at 180 and the 3 pieces cooked beautifully. Tasty, tender meat and crunchy crackling what more could you ask for. Enough for 2 people with swedes and potatoes. Yes there is a fair amount of fat which renders out of the meat but its to be expected- its a fatty cut of pork. Will definitely buy again.
Off before date and too much fat 3 times!
Gave them a try 3 times as I love pork belly but this one was too fatty all the times and off before date. Not once, no twice, 3 times! Wont recommend and wont try again
