History
Purato is a pure reflection of the island of Sicily. It is an expression of nature, an attempt to capture the beauty of the rugged landscapes and a devotion to sustainability in every aspect of production that results in authentic wines with purity of flavour.
Purato is not just organic, vegan-friendly and carbon-neutral, no stone is left unturned to ensure it is sustainable from the cultivation of grapes to winemaking, bottling, and every aspect of packaging.
Regional Information
Conditions for growing vines simply could not be better: the hot Sicilian sun, the cool sea breezes that mitigate the heat, and the fertile soil rich in minerals and nutrients. The Terra Rossa soils consist of a light red, sandy loam layer on a limestone base, which is good at retaining water. These factors all combine to bring the grapes to the perfect levels of ripeness and concentration.

Vinification Details
All grapes are hand-picked. Pinot Grigio, for best results, is picked very early - in the first half of August. The Catarratto, on the other hand, is picked in the second half of September. The grapes are very gently pressed after de-stemming and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The two wines are blended together following fermentation and left on the fine lees for about 3-4 months to add texture.

Gorgeous organic vegan Catarrato Pinot!

This organic Catarrato Pinot Grigio is absolutely gorgeous! Dry, crisp, light and refreshing and perfectly balanced - it is not too acidic. The delicate depth of flavour is delicious. Plus it is vegan, environmentally friendly and organic - important as grapes are one of the dirty dozen for pesticide residues. I also love the rest of the Purato Organic wines. Highly recommend this brand!

Don't know if it's me or the wine, but I didn't really enjoy this with a slightly bitter taste.

Not a traditional Pinot but a nice wine

Not your average Pinot but an acceptable price for the quality of wine, a little bit heavier and thicker perhaps more comparable to a Chardonnay. Nevertheless definitely worth a try.
