The herb Chia, or Salvia hispanica, grows in dry, hostile conditions in South America. It is adapted to be highly efficient at absorbing nutrients from the soil. The seed of the Chia plant is valued for its nutrients, and not surprisingly, it has been part of South American diets for millennia.
According to local legend Chia was eaten by the Aztecs, and it is still used by people such as the Tarahumara – a group known for their prowess at long-distance running. It remains a core food in Mexico and Guatemala today.

Realising that a return to time-rich living close to the land is just not possible, we have sourced a range of wholefoods whose exceptional nutritional richness can support modern lifestyles rather than forcing them to change. We choose suppliers that support these producers, their low-intensity production and their environmentally sustainable practices. Our foods are grown by organic methods, so their nutrition remains uncompromised by chemicals. Nature's Finest Foods ... it's what we do.

handy
Good product, handy to chuck in smoothies, porridge etc
Good product but questionable packaging
These are healthy organic seeds, but we wonder why there is no symbol on the bag for recycling with supermarket bags. The Naturya bag can be recycled, so we have switched to buying that.
Great
I bought these whilst half price so they were great value. A nice big bag of organic chia seeds. I use them a lot so this is really handy.
Small but mighty
These nutrient-dense seeds are a great addition to smoothies or great mixed with other seeds and nuts to have with yoghurt or porridge. Lost a star as unless these are on offer there are better value organic options available. I do wish manufacturers could come up with an alternative to these pouches which are difficult to recycle.
Decent organic chia seeds but too expensive
These chia seeds are nice but you can get organic ones elsewhere for a fraction of the price
Beware!
Having only tried Chia "shots" previously - tiny Chia seeds, which are easily & quickly swallowed - I popped a tsp of these into my mouth. As I started to swallow, they began to inflate at an alarming rate. I was worried they would get stuck somewhere in my throat! Suggest they are eaten in moderation and taken with plenty of water, unless soaking prior to eating - which I will do in future!
