Product information

Provençale Sauce

It was at the end of the 18th century that people became more knowledgeable about the tomato or better known at the time as the "toffee apple" in Provence. It was during this time that the tomato became an ingredient to be reckoned with in any Provence kitchen. In fact, in 1835, Aymes suggested recipes for "stuffed toffee apples" as well as "toffee apple coulis" in his store. The Reflets de France Provençale sauce was inspired by these traditions and it encompasses all the flavours from Provence.

Horrible Sauce

This sauce held out so much promise, but it had a sweet strange taste to it. We were totally disappointed with it, and wouldn't buy it again.

Great store cupboard staple.

Perfect for when you don't want to make a sauce, and because it is so tasty it makes the perfect base for a tomato soup

Horrible taste - whole jar to the bin

Ruined a recipe with this abomination... tastes awful, not like the real French Provencal sauce. Should have trusted the reviews. I can still feel the aftertaste....

Not sure what all the rave is about...

I didn't find this to be anything special... I prefer to spend 2 minutes chopping a clove of garlic, some oregano, thyme or basil and mixing with chopped tinned tomatoes and a glug of olive oil. For a fraction more work than twisting open a jar lid, you get tonnes more flavour.

Don't usually buy jar sauces

I usually make my own sauces as I can't stand the common after taste or bitterness of shop bought. However, this is divine! I had this with meatballs and pasta, and it was utterly gorgeous! Recommend.
