Preparation and Usage
- 1 red pepper, cut into large chunks
- 1 yellow pepper, cut into large chunks
- 8 skinless chicken thighs or drumsticks, trimmed of fat
- 400g tin chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbs tomato purée
Easy as 1,2,3...
1 Place peppers and chicken into slow cooker pot. Mix seasoning with tomato purée, and stir into the pot.
2 Cover and cook for up to 4 hours on High or up to 8 hour on Low, or until meat is tender and cooked through. (Keep covered during cooking. Slow Cookers vary. Directions based on a 3.5 litre model.)
3 Remove lid, stir through and stand for 5 mins before serving.
Try Something Different: Ideal with sauteéd potatoes, garnished with Schwartz Herbs de Provence. For a meat free alternative swap chicken for a handful of peeled shallots, 250g sliced mushrooms and a can of drained butterbeans.

400g tin chopped tomatoes
1 tbs tomato purée
Directions
1. Place the peppers and chicken into your slow cooker pot.
2. Blend the sachet contents with the chopped tomatoes and tomato purée, and add to the slow cooker pot. Stir through.
3. Cover and cook for up to 4 hours on High or up to 8 hours on Low, or until the meat is tender and cooked through. (Keep covered during cooking. Cooking times vary between slow cooker models.)
4. Remove the lid, stir through and stand for 5 minutes before serving.
5. Delicious served with crusty bread and a side salad.
Hints & Tips
For an authentic twist why not try adding pitted olives and a splash of red wine, or stir in a handful of capers at the end of cooking.

New to slow cooking
I have just been given a slow cooker and so still getting used to the timings. I find the Schwartz mixes tasty and simple to use with no pre browning of the meat. Chicken was falling off the bone with a tasty sauce.
Brilliant for beginners to slow cooking
This was great to feed a crowd and my guest loved it too. Added mushrooms and worked well. Added capers, black olives and parsley and chopped peppers towards the end to keep it crunchy. And served with rice / salad and garlic bread I think next time I might add one potato incase it gets too liquid-y so it can act as a thickener

Lovely flavour and easy to cook
Easy and very tasty
Simple to make and results were lovely. Serve with something to mop up the lot of liquid that gets produced, and do stir well to make sure the thickener doesn't burn onto the sides or bottom of the slow cooker. Packet recommends adding a glug of red wine and, at the end, some capers and this made it much more complex and tasty. Definitely buying this again.
