Recipes
Apricot & Pistachio Flapjacks
250g Flaked Oats
25g Half Spoon sugar
140g Dried Apricots
75g Pistachios
1/2 tsp Mixed Spice
150g Butter
2 tbsp Runny Honey
2 tbsp Golden Syrup
1 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste
(We Use Nielsen Massey)
- Melt the butter, syrup, honey, half spoon and vanilla paste in a saucepan on a gentle heat.
- Roughly chop the apricots and pistachios and mix with the oats and mixed spice. Add the melted butter mixture and stir until combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 18cm square baking tin and bake for 20-25 minutes at 180°C (fan 160°C/gas mark 4) until golden and a little crisp around the edges.
- Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then mark into 20 squares and leave to cool completely before removing.

Taste good maybe a little too sweet
Enjoyed the taste. As its half/half it does taste quite sweet so I use a lot less. Happy with it and would by it again
Good reduction aid
Bought to reduce sugar used in certain baked goods/dishes. Works well for us.
Not a diet aid
If you're disciplined then this might be a way of reducing carbs in your daily diet but the reality is you use just as much and it's twice as sweet, so you develop a sweet tooth etc. There used to be a much nicer version with Stevia which didn't have the aftertaste of aspartame.

whats not to like
If you are trying to cut your calorie intake this is perfect. Been using it for years. There is no discernible difference between the taste of this and real sugar when used for cereals,drinks,fruit etc and ther is no guilty feelings either!
