Very good base
So handy and nice to prepare, you can just use a small bowl if you don't want even to make a sauce pan dirty. Add some turmeric, pepper and parsley, and maybe some Parmigiano and/or olive oil to finish and whisk well. I like the water/powder ratio suggested by them.
More potato than other rivals!
Prefer Smash over rivals as it contains far more actual potato (98%) that other rivals (74%). Also, better option if you want to add your own butter / cream / cheese etc to your mash as oil isn't included beforehand.
What Happened
Remember years ago when this was branded Cadbury Smash, now its by Batchelor's . And it now has to be the worst tasting mash around. What happened to the two best ones, M'Cain and Yeoman, bring them back.
Smash is fine to keep as a standby
Used Smash. for the first time today,as it was near Best Before date, and having just defrosted my freezer and was thawing a lamb casserole..i didnt feel like peeling potatoes. Honestly I,was quite surprised that after adding butter and a little pepper, this certainly was acceptable for me to keep in my cupboard and I will now order another packet or two .. I have my groceries delivered and occasionally the potatoes ordered might be out of stock, and alternatives may not be in my freezer Of course its not the same as normal potatoes, but certainly I will make sure I keep a packet in my cupboard ..if I hadnt been tired today after defrosting the freezer I may not even have tried itI will probably adjust to a little less water and add a dash of milk next time with the butter.. thats another good point you can adjust the taste to suite.. So I am happy to recommend
horrible
tasteless awful nothing at all like the smash from 20-years ago. avoid
Essential for arranging foods!
I wouldn't recommend this as a main ingredient, but it is so useful as a base to arrange other foods. I always use a dollop to stabilise scallops in the shell!
