Nasty aftertaste
Bought these drops thinking they would be because they appeared to be of a good quality, but the peppermint was wea. I was making peppermint creams and used more than a dozen drops, (which would have been too strong with other brands I have used), but the taste just didnt get stronger. When they were ready there was a horrible aftertaste that made me think of plastic. I wouldnt buy them again.
Best mouse deterrent
Since I've been using this to deter mice I haven't seen a single mouse. Just a few drops near their favourite places. Eco friendly. Result!
Great for cocktails!
I love experimenting with this product in cocktails. So fun having the girls round and playing with drops of certain spices and herbs to add another dimension! Thanks!
Taste Ok
But concerned by the addition of Polysorbate 80... would prefer something a bit more natural
Excellent for cooking
A little goes a long way
Holy Moly it's disgusting
I'm a big fan of Peppermint tea, either after a meal or before bed to avoid caffeine late at night, so thought I'd give this a whirl. I've tried it once, and really struggled to finish the cup - I didn't. It doesn't taste like mint, it taste like chemicals - it's 65% emulsifier. Given it's as easy to make a cuppa with a teabag as it is to drop this into the water, I can't see how the price tag is justified. This is one product that I'm going to ask Ocado to refund as I can't see how it's classed as food!
Review response
Supplier Response - Dear customer, thank you for your feedback. We are surprised and disappointed to learn that you didn't enjoy Holy Lama Peppermint Spice Drops. Based on years of in-house research we have developed the optimum concentration of the Spice Drops. The extract is mixed with emulsifier to obtain the final produce in the desired ratio suitable for practical use. If the concentration is increased any further it will be too strong for use. And without the emulsifier the oils will not blend with other ingredients like water or yogurt etc. Were you to taste the spice drops straight from the bottle, which we do not recommend, you would understand how important it is to have the very concentrated flavour balanced with emulsifier for adding to food and drink. Emulsifiers are to be found in a vast array of food and drink which are almost certainly in your kitchen cupboards already but you may not have noticed as they will be part of a larger number of ingredients. Do try the Spice Drops in baking as they work really well in cakes and biscuits as well. We'd love to understand more from you on your experience and would be grateful, if you're happy to speak to us, to contact us directly at gouri@holylama.co.uk
