Product information

Taittinger is one of the last great independent Champagne Houses owned and actively managed by the family named on the label. The family are guardians of Taittinger's style, quality and integrity. The hallmark of their fine Champagnes is the high proportion of Chardonnay used in their winemaking, which is key for producing wines of great elegance and finesse. Additionally, with its vineyard ownership of 288ha (third largest in Champagne) Taittinger can guarantee flawless wines heralded worldwide for their consistent quality. Our signature cuvée, Taittinger Brut Réserve, is assembled from more than 35 crus and incorporates 40% Chardonnay - this high proportion is seldom offered in a non-vintage Champagne. Distinguished by a delicate nose marked by subtle brioche notes, it has a palate of considerable depth and balance with hints of honey and fresh fruit.

History
Champagne Taittinger's origins date back to 1734. The Taittinger link was established in 1931 when Pierre Taittinger acquired the House. He was stationed at the Château de la Marquetterie when serving in the 1st World War and fell in love with the property and its vineyards and eventually purchased the company. Today, the Reims based House is one of the few key Champagne houses to remain owned and actively managed by the family named on the label.
Regional Information
Produced each year from first pressings of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, this is the definitive cuvée of Champagne Taittinger and is a carefully balanced blend of wine from more than 35 crus. It also includes a proportion of reserve wine to ensure consistency from year to year. Prior to release, the Brut Réserve is aged for 3-4 years giving the wine depth whilst allowing the component parts to become fully integrated.

Vinification Details
Taittinger Nocturne is a 'Sec' Champagne made from 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The finished blend includes over 30 'crus'. The wine is aged on its lees for at least 4 years, often longer, before being 'disgorged'. A dosage of 17.5g of cane sugar per litre is then added. This dosage is twice that of Taittinger Brut Réserve NV. Winemaker - Alexandre Ponnavoy

not enough fizz

I do love the flavour of this but I do prefer my champagne with more fizz. This always seems a little flat to me. I may have had (several) bad bottles as gifts though!

My old faithful

Taittinger NV is by far one of my favourite champagnes. It’s full of freshness, liveliness and is easy drinking with a beautiful complex undercurrent where a hint of brioche comes through. If you like champagnes that are not biscuit-y as I do, you will love this.

Nothing special

You're paying for the name (admittedly not too pricy for champagne), but honestly would have been just as happy with the Waitrose prosecco for a third of the price!

Lovely champagne especially when on Special offer!

This is my usual go-to Champagne. Ok there are better ones out there (that you will have to pay a lot more for) but for around £30-35 it's very good and even better when on special offer.

Good

There is nothing essentially wrong with this, its a good quality Champagne with plenty of fizz & a pleasant mild brioche taste. For me personally, its just a little too sweet, but I like Champagne thats extremely dry. Everyone else who tried it loved it so Id buy it again for a celebration but only if it was on special offer as I think the normal £35 price tag is too expensive.

Delicious, top quality Champagne.

This is by far the best Champagne in this price range.
