Used to make Blackberry & Blueberry Jam Perfect
Never used sugar with pectin before, but it really sets. 480g mixed Berries to 360g of this sugar and it set perfectly. Going to use this again. definitely recommend.
Works really well
I normally use a ration of 0.5 sugar to 1 fruit, with some added lemon juice Home made jam is far tastier than ready made jam and I highly recommend it!
sets well
ratio of 1:1 has been pretty consistent. sets well. convenient.
Unreliable
I make quite a lot of jam and I find this rather variable, as if the pectin content may vary from bag to bag. I have now switched to buying pectin separately and am getting consistent results. The 3 sachet pack of pectin also works out much cheaper, currently adding about 50p to add 1 sachet to each kg of granulated sugar.
Easy to use
I use this all the time to make batches of jam. It sets well and the ratio recommended of 1kg if sugar to every 1kg of fruit works really well. I have used this for strawberry, gooseberry and raspberry jam with excellent results.
Doesnt set
I make chilli jam (no natural pectin) and it doesnt set when I use this brand. Whitworths is much more effective, but isnt stocked by Ocado.
