Where has the M&S onion gravy gone
Not a patch on the M&S onion gravy
Needs dilution
What this really is is a base for an onion gravy, not gravy in itself. Out of the packet, it is as thick as a chutney and the flavour is very concentrated. I diluted it with some vegetable stock while heating, to get a pouring consistency and a taste that was what I wanted. Eventually delicious with sausages and mash.
Like Onion Chutney
This gravy is thick and packed with onions but it's too thick and sweet to use as it comes from the packet. We thinned it with red wine and a little veg stock while heating in a pan and it was fine. The M&S onion gravy is much nicer.

I dont understand the poor reviews. I think this - and the Bay Tree redcurrant gravy, are fabulous. They turn a veg casserole into something really special.
So bad I felt compelled to write my first review
Now I like chutney but this gravy had the consistency of chutney without the pleasing taste if either chutney or gravy. It was vinegary and almost chemically in its taste and we won’t be buying again.
