Tasty
We love this, good for a quick dinner
Great tasting store cupboard essential
Close replacement to M&S Black Daal removed Oct '23 No onion, it lets the spices do the work. The chilli is left whole and is in the dry spice packet, so you can remove, keep whole or slice for more intensity. Good to keep in the cupboard for when needed, great with Tilda coconut rice. Easy to add other veg or not
Long lingering smell
This is fine as an accompaniment to a curry as long as you dont mind a strong unpleasant fried spice smell in your house for over a week. Despite airing the house daily, wiping the whole kitchen down & dishwashing the extractor filters the smell would not go. Wont be purchasing again.
Horrid
I never throw food away but my tea went in the bin last night. This was quite unpleasant. It was very runny (and I didnt add water as instructed) more like soup. However, it tasted like gravy.
too salty
Too salty for my taste. Though the suggestion to add tomatoes was good.
Rich and delicious
Really lovely rich Daal. I used to make my own a lot but this is very easy mid week to make and so I don't make my own as much anymore. I would say a main for 1 or a side dish for 2.
