Strength rating 5 - Strong
Indulgently smooth coffee with a dark cocoa intensity, grown by the Gajah Mountain Co-operative. There’s a certain character only a truly
great Sumatra arabica coffee can have.
You’ll find it here: a deep peaty tone and a velvety rich smoothness make this perfect for after-dinner to enjoy with an equally robust single malt.
100% arabica

Our Story
San Francisco, the 90s. The rumblings of a café culture revolution. The smell of freshly roasted coffee lingered in the air.
That aroma. It woke up an ambition in us - to bring good coffee to the world.
Fast forward to East London, today. We work with smallholder farmers around the world to source high quality coffees, then roast each batch in our vintage Probat to develop their distinctive flavours. We're now proud roasters for Britain's finest restaurants, cafés - and coffee gourmets like you.
Welcome to our union. Enjoy your brew.

favourite beans
I am a big fan of Union Hand Roasted coffee beans and Sumatra is my absolute favourite. It makes for a smooth strong cup of coffee and is great value for money. The beans grind really well in my Eureka Mignon grinder.

delicious
Rich and intense - a well roasted coffee I keep returning to.

Worst ever Sumatra!
Very acidic, light coloured. Sumatran beans are dark, big, oily! These beans were really small, light and very dry. Nothing like the earthy , smooth, NON ACIDIC taste of real Sumatran coffee.
