Product information

What do you get when you combine a beautiful sunny Mediterranean climate with one of the most isolated countries in the world? Chile, a vine grower's paradise.
At Veramonte, we believe in preserving this paradise. So we are careful to be as sustainable as possible in the winery and we farm all of our vines organically. No nasty chemicals in our vineyards or our wines.
The fruit for this Chardonnay is grown on our estate in the beautiful Casablanca Valley, where it is gently cooled by breezes from the Pacific Ocean. When it is ripe, we carefully pick and vinify the grapes, resulting in this delicious, smooth, and fresh Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes
Fresh and expressive aromas of pear, quince and lemon curd, interwoven with toasty oak notes. Vibrant purity of the fruit with beautiful texture and good depth, reveal the remarkable fresh fruit characters that lead to a long memorable finish
History
Harvest 2015 had a very positive development, and yields within expected. The season was marked by a very beneficial rainfall at the beginning, great for the evolution of the vines. Weather conditions and extended temperature range between day and night allowed for slow ripening of the grapes, maintaining excellent quality of fruit and freshness. These conditions, together with careful vineyard management resulted in elegant notes and a complex aromatic profile.
Regional Information
Casablanca valley is roughly 30km (20 miles) long, stretching to the eastern border of the Valparaiso province. Because it is only 30km (20 miles) from the Pacific Ocean at its furthest point, Casablanca Valley is strongly influenced by the cooling effects of the Humboldt Current, which flows up the west coast of Chile from the Antarctic. It is this cooler climate that makes Casablanca's wines stand out with a longer ripening period to develop greater flavor complexity.

Vinification Details
Grapes are harvested at night, and whole clusted pressed. Part of the wine is barrel fermented in neutral oak with native yeasts, and the rest in fermentation until the ideal balanced flavors are achieved, enhancing the Chardonnay¿s softness and creaminess without losing its freshness.

This is not Chardonnay!

I got this as a replacement for a different organic Chardonnay- and it is very dry, vinegary and unpleasant. Could not drink it. Maybe I got a bad bottle/batch, could not believe one pays so much for such a cheap tasting wine. Sorry. I really wanted to like it but there was nothing in it to like.

Love it

I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. I was a bit sceptical about this one! But actually it tasted amazing

loved it

Im reviewing this product because I received a free sample from Ocado. Shared with a group who both love and hate Chardonnay. Everyone enjoyed it. Light oak and vanilla with subtle pineapple.

Chardonnay, all the way!!

I'm reviewing this product because I received a free sample from Ocado. I am a Chardonnay drinker, and this kept me happy and content. I didn't want to share the bottle.

very easy to drink

I am reviewing this as I received a free sample from Ocado. Im not normally a fan of Chardonnay but this had a lovely oaky but floral flavour and was very easy to drink! And its organic too- not sure why they dont make a bigger thing of that in the overview of it? I think its possibly a little overpriced at full cost for me but Id buy again if its on offer.

Decent

Reviewing as had a freebie to sample. I'm not a fan of chardonnay normally, but as others have said it's not oaky and is a smooth wing, very quaffable and even better as organic.
