Ave Maria have developed quite a following for their famous brand (first groves laid out 1867). Keeping up with the traditions currently there are three women who consider it a privilege to look after all of the details of this precious orchard and its rich natural heritage.
At Wholegood, we focus on the very finest seasonal produce, sourcing from the UK wherever possible. Our first priority however is to always be associated with 'best in class' produce. Fortunately we're also well connected with the most forward-thinking growers and farming communities in Italy, Holland and Spain. Incidently we never air-freight because we believe we have a responsibility to the wider environment.

Preparation and Usage
The traditional time to make marmalade is January and February, when we want to stay warm indoors with the aroma of oranges filling our kitchens. For a classic Seville orange marmalade, you will need 1kg of Seville oranges and about twice as much (2kg) preserving sugar, along with a lemon. Here's a simplified version of the classic recipe: Cut the oranges and lemon in half and squeeze out the juice. Place the juice and half of the pips into a preserving pan or a large heavy-based saucepan.Cut the fruit into smaller chunks and process them in two batches in a food processor into finely chopped pieces.Place the chopped fruit in the pan with the juice and add the water. Bring to the boil and simmer uncovered for about 1 hour or until the skins are very soft. The mixture should have reduced by one third. Add the sugar and stir over a low heat until completely dissolved.Turn the heat up and boil rapidly without stirring for 15 minutes then test for setting point by placing 1tsp marmalade on a cold saucer and allow to cool quickly in the refrigerator. If it forms a wrinkly skin when pushed with a finger it is set. If not, continue boiling and test for set every 5 minutes. Skim off any scum, remove any pips, and leave the marmalade to cool until a very thin skin forms. Pour into warm sterilised jars and cover immediately.

No use for making marmalade
These were dry, with soft, scarred and useless skins for marmalade. Three were totally squashed and mouldy. Certainly not up to standard. Wouldn't buy again from this brand.
Good sour Juice
Sour Acidic Oranges, I like them. Taste better than lemon.
Gross
Horrible oranges. Acidic. Unusable.
Poor quality
I read the other reviews, but wanted to make marmalade and so ordered anyway- Don’t do the same. Some were mouldy, some squashed, none were good quality. They should be being sold.
Makes very good marmalade
I have used these organic oranges for several years and keep buying them to make marmalade.
Soft \x26 Mouldy
These should have never made my shop. They arrived with over half of them rotten and growing green mould through the netting. Did use the rest for a reduced quantity of marmalade, but not sure they were a very good crop. Very little juice. Saying that the small quantity of marmalade it made it quite tasty, we will have to see if it stores okay due to the nature of the oranges supplied.
