Spicy roasted chick peas

Roast a tin of chickpeas in a selection of your favourite spices for a healthy snack that also makes a great topping for salads, soups and dhals.

  • 400g chick peas
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper


Step 1

Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6.

Step 2

Drain, rinse and thoroughly pat dry 1 x 400g tin chick peas. To make sure they really crisp up in the oven leave them to air for 10 mins and pat dry again, if you have time.

Step 3

Transfer to a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and place in the oven for 15 mins.

Step 4

In a bowl, mix the olive oil, curry powder, cumin, paprika, salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Remove the chick peas from the oven, tip into the bowl and coat with the spices.

Step 5

Spread them back out on the baking tray and roast for another 20 mins, until crunchy.
