From 5 to 4 stars
I am updating my review as the quality of the tahini has changed. I have left the wording of my previous review below and it was a five star. The tahini now seems to be a lot runnier and this is possibly as it is now a trendy food that people use to drizzle neat onto toast, breakfasts etc. I prefer my tahini the old fashioned way as I use it to make a traditional cypriot dip using lemon, olive oil, salt, garlic and parsley. I tried making the usual dip and it was very disappointing as it just did not thicken to the right consistency. It should be able to soak up lemon juice, water, and oil to double the quantity when making a creamy light coloured dip. This did not. I have to say the taste was still delicious but the dip was the consistency of a salad dressing. For all those who like to dribble and spread on toast, porridge and salad this will work. So I'm not completely writing off the product, but Cypressa is better for making the dip. PREVIOUS COMMENT I've tried loads of different tahini brands but this is by far the best. It's a little expensive but well worth it for the flavour. Made a tahini dip (tahini, olive oil, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, salt, water) to try and they devoured it. I ate mine in a bowl with a spoon, no dipping bread needed.
Great taste but runny
Really great taste, but difficult to really blend the top and the sludge at the bottom when you first open the bottle. And then several times after you need to remix before getting it out. Towards the end it was too runny for my linking - e.g running straight off the toast when you spread it. It is also a bit too deep for me so it gets messy to handle as you go deeper down. I also do not like the little plastic rim round the top after taking of the lid. I am sure it performs a function but it just looks and feels nasty. Shame not to present an excellent basic product better.
Wonderful
Made incredible Humous. Rich and flavorful. We really enjoyed it.
Nice
Nice Tahini, good size pot, but it's a shame it's a stupid shaped plastic, please put it in glass.
Gorgeously savoury tahini
It needs a good stir and I agree that the packaging is a pain but I forgive it because this tahini is utterly delicious. I eat it by the spoonful straight out of the jar for a glorious umami hit. Yummy as a nut-free alternative to peanut butter too.
What happened :(
This was always my favorite tahini, absolutely amazing to make tahin sauce with, hummus or eat on its on! However the last 2 batches has tasted awful and bitter. Was the recipe changed? So annoying:(
