Disappointing

I normally love Biona products but this was disappointing. To the reviewer below, who accused another reviewer of playing the Asian card, well I am Asian too and yes as an Asian who is familiar with this condiment from birth, I do know a little bit about Shoyu sauce and how it should taste. Unfortunately here the flavour isn’t right for Shoyu sauce in my humble opinion. In case anyone is wondering what is the difference between Soy sauce & Shoyu sauce, Soy sauce is Chinese not Japanese and a good quality Soy sauce should be made with 100% Soy in the traditional way where as Shoyu sauce is the Japanese version of Soy sauce which is made of Soy & Wheat.

It\x27s good \- ignore him below

It's good, organic and no unnecessary or toxic ingredients. I was a huge fan of Clearspring Tamari until it became 'Yaemon' Tamari and they replaced the Wheat with Mirin now it's nowhere near as nice so i have to find alternatives, All Kikkoman soy is not that nice, so this Biona one is in 2nd place, there are obviously better authentic ones you could buy online at a specialist website but are massively more expensive than this one. Ps: To the guy below 'MCc' playing the old "i am Asian I know soy sauce card" it's absolute nonsense it means nothing he might just have bad taste, are all white people experts on Bread and Potatoes?! obviously they are not...giving one star is massively unfair, ignore him, bargain basement?! pfft - i will tell you what bargain basement is: Pearl River, Amoy, Blue Dragon, Datu Puti, Silver Swan, Superior, Lee Kum Kee, Wing Yip, Kikkoman, ect ect ect and 99% of anything you will get in any UK Chinese supermarket, they all taste vile plus and those brands use quick Hydrolysation (A mass production fermentation method of extraction using Hydrochloric Acid! rather than traditional brewing, that produces a (mostly) banned carcinogenic by product called 3-MPCD). We obviously realise Biona is nowhere near as good as something you might get in Japan but we are not in Japan are we, availability of good quality Soya Sauce is poor here in the UK...but don't lie about it though.

Bargain basement quality

I am Asian and have been cooking with soya (Shoyu) sauce all my life. Based on the good reviews here and the relatively high price, I had high expectation for this sauce. But the quality is what I’d expect from a bargain basement brand. It is very salty and doesn’t have any delicate layers of flavour to speak of. Will never buy this again.

Nice deep flavour

Good soy sauce, deeper flavour than my normal cheaper variety so I didn't need to use as much.
