Pure nostalga. You get what you expect.
For people who say 'this is tasteless and not like when I was a child' remember how old you are. I had these in the 1970s and they were sweet sickly rubbish but that is fine. That is what I wanted and enjoyed. After years of eating strong curries and being that much older I know my ability to taste anything is massively diminished. I am planning a 1970s evening for the grand children. I think vesta curries are still available (very bland), Artic Roll, prawn cocktail and Birds Trifle. All washed down with Liebfraumilch. Then videos of all the comedies the BBC has now banned for entertainment. As a nostalgic revisit to childhood this trifle hits the spot. Know what you are getting and remember if you are in your late 40s or over your ability to taste anything is on a steep, fast decline.
Cheap and cheerful
Bought this as a grandchildren’s treat but had to use it for 4 adults and we all enjoyed it for a fun Sunday tea. It was very quick and easy to make. I tested the runny jelly and found it rather sweet so I added some (drained) fruit cocktail and that broke up the sweetness The custard had a perfect set and with just the right amount of fluffy Dream Topping the flavours balanced well. I didn’t fancy chocolate sprinkles and used some rainbow ones I had. Someone commented on the chemicals but all they would be the same if the sponges etc. were bought individually. It’s not a luxury dessert but a bit of fun.
Not free range
Like most manufacturers these days, whilst we consumers care enough to buy free range, the truth is most manufacturers use inhumane battery caged eggs
Tasteless
Bought this as it’s vegetarian, not had it for a few years and the taste is awful now, jelly and custard tasteless
ok wish
Make your own don't be lazy x
chemicals
Never realised how many artificial ingredients this has in it.
