Ah Primitivo; a fun and ever so approachable red wine. This particular variety is from Puglia, in the sunny southern part of Italy. It’s young and juicy, blessed with a softness not often found in red wines, meaning it’s the perfect easy going partner to antipasti or with a slice of pizza. This bag-in-box (the equivalent to three bottles) will be your new go to. Perfect for a weekday glass but rest assured that it will stay good for up to six weeks. Oh, and what's in a name? A Bowl Grabber?!? That's someone who holds their glass by the bowl, not the stem. A faux pas I hear you say?!? Yes indeed; because we're for people who love enjoying great wine not endlessly discussing it!

Juicy, soft & easy going, blessed with bright fruit flavours

Vinification Details
The dry sunny conditions in the region of Puglia mean ripe, juicy grapes bursting with flavour are picked at the perfect moment. Making an easy drinking Primitivo means gentle handling, slightly cooler fermentation and careful movement of the skins while in contact with the fermenting juice. Once fermented to dryness everything is allowed to settle down with a small portion spending some time in old oak barrels to add a noticeable but complementary chocolate accent to the rich fruit forward characters.

Fruity and smooth

We were a bit apprehensive buying a boxed wine, esp if we didn't like it - a lot to pour down the sink! However, it was on offer and we were surprised how nice it is. I am not a wine expert, but this is fruity and very smooth. Perfect with pasta or just on it's own if you fancy a glass on a summers evening and imagine being in Tuscany! This will be a regular purchase going forward.

Everyday quaffing, good value when reduced

One of the better boxed wines, preferred by all of us over Jammy, Banrock Station, Nice. 19 Crimes is better but not available on Ocado

Almost undrinkable. Tastes cheap and overly sweet.

Dangerously good

So easy to drink. Nothing too complex or groundbreaking but really smooth and tasty. Delicious but dangerous to have in, if you just fancy a glass it's very tempting!
