From "Gela" area in the east of the idyllic island of Sicily, Colpasso Fiano is a characterful dry white made from the traditional "Fiano" grape variety. The Sicilian sun ripens the grapes perfectly, which, combined with crisp, citrus acidity, gives the wine a lovely balance. Fresh and floral with touches of honey, Colpasso Fiano is perfect chilled as an aperitif and wonderful with a plate of seafood.

History
Fiano is an ancient grape variety used in the South of Italy, especially in Campania and Sicily. This grape was imported in Italy by the ancient Greeks and it was called 'vitis apina' ('apina' contains the word 'ape', bee) by the Romans because bees are attracted to the sweet and fragrant perfume.
Regional Information
The grapes for this wine come from the Belice vally, close to the Southern coast of Sicily.

Vinification Details
The grapes are softly pressed, then left in contact with the skins for 12 hours at 10C for extraction of the aromas. Fermentation takes place at 14-16C, after that we leave the wine on its lees at a constant temperature of 16C until the end of January. Prior to bottling (February-March) we do a very gentle filtration.

Lovely
We wanted to broaden our repertoire and was interested with this Sicilian wine. Its on the more acidic side like an Albariño but is smooth and when chilled takes you to the Mediterranean coast. Would buy again

Not good
Both my husband and myself agreed after just a sip of this wine it wasnt worth drinking and we poured it down the drain.

smooth!
Read about Fiano in a recent newspaper article and wanted to try it - this one is very smooth and buttery - delicious!

Avoid
Agree with the reviewer below - not good at all. Couldn't finish the glass and poured the rest down the sink.

Past its best
This 2015 tasted like it had been stored too long or wrongly, more than a touch of the sherry vinegar to it.
