Garofalo Vermicelli Pasta 500g

£2.6040p per 100gProduct information
Premium Italian pasta maker Garofalo has been making high quality pasta since 1789 in Gragnano near Naples, the birth place of pasta in Italy.
Garofalo has always been a reference point for the high quality of its product and production processes, made now even more effective thanks to the combination of technology and century long artisan know how.
Pasta is simply made with water and durum wheat semolina and you can't produce excellent pasta if the best wheat is not used. It is the quality and quantity of gluten present primarily that determines the quality of the wheat. Garofalo uses only high quality robust durum wheat in its signature pasta ranges.
Garofalo pasta is formed through a bronze die this method allows a little friction on the surface of the pasta, which becomes slightly rough and porous allowing the sauce to cling and be absorbed into the pasta giving a delightful eating experience!

Preparation and Usage
Bring a large pan of water to the boil and add salt if required. Keeping the water at a rolling boil add the amount of pasta needed. Stir with a wooden spoon to prevent the pasta sticking together and to avoid damaging the pasta. Cook for the recommended time, drain and serve.
Instructions
For best results, place pasta in a saucepan of boiling water, boil for 9-11 minutes, stirring occasionally. A shorter cooking time results in a more ''al dente'' (firm) texture.
When the pasta is cooked drain immediately and serve.

a family favourite
We all like this pasta as it is thicker than normal - beware the vermicelli name which normally equates to very fine pasta and this is the complete antithesis. At 3 packs for £3 this is a real bargain for a high quality product. Bear in mind it takes slightly longer to cook than the manufacturers recommendation.
Not Vermicelli As We Know It
It is listed as Kosher and as such, I use it as lockshen. This is nothing like it - far too thick. It is normally produced in nests - see Morrisons Vermicelli, for example. Nothing wrong with the pasta per se but its not vermicelli.
product has changed
The first time I purchased these, not that long ago, it was thin vermicelli. The most recent was thicker than spaghetti, which ruined the dish (I thought I would try it). This is just expensive spaghetti. I hope they improve it as it's the only wheat vermicelli in the site.
Great thick pasta
I love this. Wonderful, thick pasta, thicker than the usual spaghetti and just great to eat. Still swirls round your fork and has a great texture.
fabulous
wonderful texture and thickness, one of my favourites to use for prawn dishes. I wouldn't say this is thick, it is narrow and dense with a wonderful bite. we love love love it.
Really good thick pasta!
Garofalo is a really good brand of pasta - I’m Italian and love pasta, I eat it every day, and I can really tell the difference between brands. Vermicelli is among my favourite type of pasta, it’s a thicker version of spaghetti, so extra consistency!
