Coconut sugar can be used as a replacement for refined white sugar. It has a similar flavour to brown sugar, with hints of caramel. Our coconut sugar is 100% pure and is made from the nectar of the blossom that grows on the coconut palm tree.
Farmer cooperatives are involved in growing and harvesting the coconut nectar. It is an important product for local communities, providing much-needed income.

great alternative to sugar
I use this to bake with or add to tomato sauces and am really pleased with it.
not worth it
gave this a try but doesn't sweeten unless you use more, also strange smelling
Brown sugar
Not what I expected... It's a lovely brown colour and treacly in taste. I'm trying to avoid refined sugar, and thought I'd give my usual meringue recipe a try with this... An acquired taste don't think I need to worry about the rest of the family pinching them! But if you like brown sugar, do give this a go a healthy alternative.
More delicious than brown sugar
Although very expensive (even on special) I like using this sugar to make home made ice cream because it imparts a delicious caramel flavour to the base that I can't otherwise replicate. I'm sure it's probably very good for baking too, but it would pay to be selective with the recipes to get the most out of the flavour.
