Pair with: a glass of M&S classics claret
Serving
To serve, remove dumpling using a fish slice.
Instructions
Needs cooking
Preheat oven. Remove sleeve. Pierce film.
Place on preheated baking tray.
After 25 mins, remove film and cook for remaining time.
For a crispier dumpling, cook for a further 5 mins.
Add more water to bring gravy to pouring consistency if needed.
Do not reheat.

Bitter
Expected a nice rich beef filling in a flavoursome gravey. Very disappointed family dinner, no one eat them, very bitter taste.
Not worth the price
Even in a deal. It's tasty, but all the meat is stuck under the dumplings so it doesn't cook in contact with the sauce. There also isn't enough sauce for two people - once it's cooked down, there's barely enough for one! Lastly the dumplings ARE really stodgy, but personally I like that. Top tops if you're cooking this: - The dumplings need more like 10 minutes to brown on top - You definitely need to add extra water - You don't need a fish slice to remove the dumplings, a spatula is fine - The dumplings are what is going to make you full. There isn't a lot of meat
not dumplings as you expect
This isnt like your typical dumpling- its dumpling pastry encasing a generous amount of beef in ale, so you wont get the same mouthfeel as a typical dumpling. The meat is flavoursome and never had any gristle. Firm favourite in our house served with mash and greens
Gloopy
I have purchased a number of M&S gastric range but this one certainly didnt come up to expectation. I couldnt crisp up the dumplings even by turning up the temperature and leaving it in the oven longer - it still came out as a gloopy mess. We couldnt find the meat which was hidden in the dumpling and, as others have said, funny acidic taste. My advice is dont buy it and stick to the beef bourginion or two filet steaks for that price.
Avoid!
I love beef in ale. I love dumplings. I did NOT like this! I followed the instructions with the extra 5 minutes but the dumplings didn't crisp up on top and were particularly gloopy underneath. That would have been bearable but there was a slight overriding unpleasant smell and taste. Definitely won't buy again.
