great alternative to takeaway
Cant understand the negative reviews. We had this with M&S bao buns, slaw and crispy onions. Also had the M&S Chinese starter selection and prawn crackers. A lot cheaper than a takeaway and nicer, although not authentic, admittedly
Not char siu...
We had this in Vietnamese rice paper rolls. It was fine in that, but as others have said, this is not char siu. It's more like those racks of ribs, in a Chinese sweet sticky bbq / hoisin type glaze. There is lots of very gloopy sweet sauce, we used half and it was more than enough
Disappointing
We were really looking forward to this but unfortunately it disappointed, the sauce was so over powering for our taste. We will definitely just stick to bbq next time.
A quarter fat!
I was so shocked by how much fat was riddled through the meat. I took me a long time to trim it. Not much actual meat left after I had done so.
OK but not right
Doesn't really taste anything like char siu, and it's the wrong cut of meat too. As another reviewer has said, it's pulled pork with a soy glaze. Sweet and weird.
OK.
Whilst the portion is really good, we found this far too sweet for our taste buds, was looking for an alternative to the Jolly Hog pulled pork which is way over priced for the portion but this isn't it unfortunately.
