Beautiful veal
First time for us with rose veal sirloin, both good thick steaks with minimum fat, absolutely delicious, tender and tasty, pan fried to brown, rested 5 minutes, finished in the rayburn to 62 degrees internal temperature, brandy mushroom and creme fraiche sauce, perfect.
Not much taste
This was tender as veal is but very little fat and not much taste in the meat. Prefer beef.
tasteless gristle
May have been unlucky but was not pleasant.
beautiful!
absolutely gorgeous piece of meat!
Delicious Veal (not Steak!)
Absolutely delicious veal if cooked as veal (e.g. veal schnitzel)! So much more delicious than the topside that is usually used for veal escalope. Reviews suggesting it was tasteless as steak have kind of missed the point! However, as sirloin, it does have a lot of fat to trim off (compared to veal escalope) so only 4*
Not that different from Non\-veal
Ok soI've heard so much about young bovines, never understood why but being an adventurous foodie I bought one of these from the store and tried it. My take on this is that this is just a very tasteless slab of meat, I gave it an extra star for its tenderness which I guess is the reason why people eat immature cows. It tasted like a cheap sirloin, tender, yes, but absolutely tasteless with regards to beefiness. I wouldn't buy again because at that price point, a regular 21 day aged piece of meat offers far more depth of flavour and is far more tender. It was filled with water, even the fat cap had zero flavour in it, so for me.....nope!
