Love It More
Ive been a marmite lover for decades. This is the best! Thick, rich and a daily necessity. In recent times marmite has seemed thinner and with a less intense flavour, but this shows how it should be.

I couldn't tell the difference from regular Marmite but this is more expensive and far more difficult to spread.

As a life long lover of Marmite I was intrigued to try this XO version, after all how could it be different from the real thing ... it is! Gloriously rich and not as sloppy as 'normal' marmite, it has more depth of flavour and is like marmite of my childhood. Love it, recommend it and am going to buy a stash so I never run out of out
much more like marmite of old
I dont know if its my taste buds as Ive got older or a change in recipe but in recent times ordinary marmite tastes different (less strong) to me. It also has a sort of burnt edge to the taste, especially when spread thickly which I needed to get the équivalant strength of flavour. I tried the less salt version but that was even more 'burnt' . Almost in desperation I gave this one a go. Thankfully it is much more like my memories of marmite. It is more mellow than standard marmite, much more rounded in flavour so this will be my go to in future. Even this one has a very slight burnt edge to the aftertaste but almost imperceptible I just seem to have tuned in to that since trying the low salt one and noticing it in the standard version. I dont get that with other strongly savoury foods so I dont think its just my tastebuds.

I had this as a free sample. Marmite is a product I would usually buy anyway, but I hadn't tried this. I liked the richer flavour very much, I did think there was a discernible difference to the Marmite I already had in the cupboard.
