Leaves were really big, being medium size would be easier to use for stuffing, im happy with the taste
Nice BUT
For anyone used to this traditional product, it is a bit sweeter and it is clear that this isn't the classic pickling recipe, with only salt and warm water + condiments. This version uses the preservatives sachets which give it a slighlty sweet taste, which I personally find a bit inappropriate for stuffing the leaves. Nevertheless, I ended up using vine leaves to roll the meat and just added a few of these cabbage leaves at the bottom and on top, ending up with a very delicious final product. If I didn't have any other brand available, I would definitely buy again, although I wish Ocado actually stocked the right one.
Used to make stuffed cabbage leaves
The leaves are good though vary in size. Need rinsing in cold water before use. We used this to make stuffed cabbage leaves: Preparation time 30 minutes Cooking time 1.5 hours - 2 hours - Wash the leaves thoroughly under water - Remove "rooty" parts of the leaves. Cut bigger leaves into 2-4 pieces - Chop one small shallot and fry on a bit of olive oil - Add 1/2 kg minced meat (5% fat) and break into pieces - Optional - Add chopped Serrano/, Prosciutto or Bresaola - 3-4 slices - Fry for 15 mins on medium heat. - Cool the mixture down - Sprinkle a dessert spoon of rice (best use paella style rice) - Mix - stuff the leaves with the meat mixture and roll, so the meat does not come out - place the above tightly packed into a saucepan - add 2dcl of cold water - put a plate upside down on the stuffed leaves - this will keep pieces in place - Let it bubble and then simmer for 1.5 hours - 2 hours - optionally sprinkle a teaspoon of tomato sauce - Enjoy
