Very odd texture and appearance
I wasn't expecting too much given this is a fairly cheap and cheerful mass market brand but it didn't really live up even to my fairly low expectations. It didn't look or smell great even on first opening the jar - for some reason they've used cornflour as a thickener (presumably as a cheap counter to the fact that they've watered down the actual tomato) meaning that the texture is odd/gloopy and its also slightly pink in colour rather than vibrant red. Just odd. The taste is OK, you don't get much tomato flavour but it has a decent amount of chilli, albeit I think largely from chilli powder rather than chopped chillis. All in all I wouldn't buy it again, its probably OK for dipping tortilla chips in while watching TV but that's about it, I wouldn't use it with an actual meal.
