Vegetarian "Chicken" Sweet n Sour Perfection

Been using these as a coating for vegetarian Chicken pieces in a homemade sweet n sour - takeaway style, like the chicken balls you get with sauce and fried rice from a takeaway. absolutely THE best gluten free breadcrumbs for this purpose because they have just the right texture and not a strong flavour so they easily take on what seasoning you add yourself. Amazing and very authentic Chinese style.

Not fit for purpose

Went soggy in both recipes I tried them in, turned meatballs to mush and did not crisp on breaded chicken recipe.

taste ok but pale when cooked

Unappealing when cooked for gluten free katsu, tasted ok but looked anaemic uncooked .all voted a no for again. Very fine even tried the paxo ones to bulk it but they didnt stick! def not a winner here even if desperate!! Best are from the other supermarket M they make the best katsu ever! They also go a golden colour and look the part with a great crunch

No good for crumble topping or baking

Tried this as an alternative to breadcrumbs for topping pasta bakes, macaroni cheese etc to give it "crunch" but it didn't work at all. Even at 275 degrees it came out of the oven pale (un-browned or caramelised) and soft without having crisped up. Perhaps it works better when coating something for shallow frying but its definitely not as versatile as breadcrumbs and hopeless as a topping for anything baked in the oven.

Perfect

Topped a spinach and artichoke pasta perfectly and Im sure are great for other uses. Nice flavour, nothing negative to say!
