Amazed by the flavour!!
I was truly amazed by the incredible flavour of these blueberries (bilberries). Compared to 'normal' blueberries, they are in a league of their own. So delicious! I do cook them (it does say on the packet and info, online) as I have them in porridge, with a sliced banana. Utterly gorgeous. I couldn't go back to normal blueberries now. I'm trying the Picard raspberries next :)
These are absolutely gorgeous! They have a beautiful deep vibrant colour and a heavenly, delicious intense full flavour with a perfect balance of sweetness and sharpness - the depth of flavour and colour is out of this world. I alternate them with Picard Organic Red Berries Mix (also heavenly divine!!) and add to porridge, cereals and muesli with Chia seeds and maple syrup, and they make a delicious dessert with sliced banana and natural/soya yoghurt or soya custard. I have eaten these raw daily for years and never cook them, as I prefer to run the very slight risk of Hepatitis A/Norovirus to preserve the vitamins and nutrients which are destroyed by heat. Another winner from Picard!
cook before use
Thanks to the reviewer below for saying to cook them before use! These are just to make jams or pies, shouldnt eat them raw. They are very tasty and make your tongue purple. But COOK first as they are wild and could cause viruses etc
Hepatitis risk? Need to be cooked
Had I known these needed to be cooked before eating, supposedly due to Hepatitis A risk, I would never have bought them. I've been putting them raw on my cereal for months! Thanks to other reviewers how pointed this out.
Don't eat these raw!
Oh dear I was thawing these out and my 80 year old dad was eating these raw on top of his yogurts. It was only due to the fact that I thought I would review that I realised that these berries should be cooked from all the reviewers (thank you.) This also applies to any imported frozen fruit due to hepatitis A and Norovirus) Lovely berries but please boil!
Love these berries but have only just seen that they need to be cooked before use due to very slight risk of being infected with hepatitis A - this was something I never knew about frozen fruit!
